WHATEVER YOU DO - GET WISDOM!!

Back in 1975 someone estimated that, if all of human accumulated knowledge from the beginning of recorded history to 1845 were represented by one cm, what we learned from 1845 until 1945 would amount to 3 cm, and what we learned from 1945 until 1975 would represent almost 750 metres. That is over 35 years ago! In 2007 it was stated that scientific knowledge doubles every 5 years!

This has not however corresponded with a growth in wisdom – quite the contrary.

Someone once said, “Common sense isn't as common as it used to be.” Someone else said, “There is just as much horse sense as ever, but it seems the horses have it.”

Knowledge and wisdom work together but are two different things. You can know about things, you can know how to do things, but wisdom will tell you whether you should or not, and the manner in which you should use your knowledge. 

Some wisdom can be picked up from experience—looking at the world and seeing what works, but there is a deeper wisdom and understanding that you can’t guess at. It is revealed by God, our Creator, who is reconciling people to himself. 

The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the “Wisdom of God”. That wisdom is God reconciling us to himself through the death and resurrection of his Son. Jesus died for our sins and failures and lack of wisdom, so that we can be forgiven and receive God’s Spirit into our lives. We only have to ask him in and he will lead us in truth, teach us God’s ways, and gradually transform us into the people he wants us to be.
